Happy Thanksgiving, friends!
This holiday is so sweet because it’s a potent reminder of how very much I have to be grateful for. How could I possibly lack contentment when the evidence of God’s overflowing, abundant grace appears everywhere I turn?
Chief among my blessings is the opportunity I have to share on this platform every week. In lieu of a regular post this week (and in the spirit of the holiday), I want to share a prayer of thanksgiving that you can recite as you reflect on your blessings today.
Gracious, generous God,
Your holiness knows no limit.It humbles me to remember how deeply you care for me;
how attentive and loving you are to all your children.Everywhere my eyes fall, I see new evidence of your grace in my life.
The beauty of the created world,
The love of my family and friends,
The joy of a pure pleasure;
All these gifts and more are invitations to turn to you in thanksgiving and praise.And even more than this—
When I am confronted with my sinfulness;
When I remember that there is no good apart from you;
When all my righteousness appears to me as filthy rags;
Then I may appreciate the depths of your love and the glory of your sacrifice.You have done the impossible.
You have adopted me as your child and clothed me in righteousness.
You have defeated death, once and for all.
You are victorious now and forever.I love you, Lord; be near me today.
Draw my attention to the gifts you have given me,
and do not allow me to glance past them without first giving you thanks.All glory, all victory, all honor, all praise belongs to you alone,
Forever and ever.Amen.
And, thank YOU for reading, sharing, and subscribing! Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
